I love this method because:
a- having only two bins (light and dark) was not practical. I ended up sorting out laundry many times before doing laundry.
b- with six bins I know exactly where dirty clothes are and we can wash the color we need most.
Each day we do at least one bin and sometimes two, and for our family of six the system works perfectly well.
I do laundry during the day, leave everything on a table and one of my daughters folds and puts away in the morning.
It would be great to have a family closet, so it would be very easy for her to fold and store in a jiffy, without having to walk to and fro to put away.
